Rihanna Leads Nominations For MTV Europe Music Awards

Internationally popular Barbadian R&B idol Rihanna led with six nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards, which were announced today, followed by five for country sensation Taylor Swift and four apiece for pop superstars Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Reportedly Rihanna is shortlisted for the categories of Best Song (“We Found Love”), Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Video (“We Found Love”), Biggest Fans and this year’s all new category, Best Look. Taylor Swift is also in contention for Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist, and Best Look, in addition to being nominated for Best Live Performance and Best World Stage Act. The ceremony will take place at Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany on November 11.

Last year’s awards, held in Belfast, were dominated by Lady Gaga. This year she is nominated for three awards – Best Live Act, Best Video (for “Marry the Night”) and Biggest Fans. Other acts performing at the event include Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Kanye West, who all scored three nominations each.
